Production-grade web animation library for React, JavaScript, and Vue — scroll-linked motion, gestures, layout transitions, spring physics, and agent-compatible docs.

About Motion.dev

Motion.dev is a production-grade web animation library for React, JavaScript and Vue. It covers scroll-linked motion, gestures, layout transitions and spring physics, with documentation written to be readable by coding agents as well as people. It is a library rather than a component set: you describe the motion you want and it handles interpolation, interruption and physics underneath.

We track it rather than run it daily. We list it as the option for when animation has to be hand-built — a bespoke interaction, a transition no component set will give you, or a layout change that must stay interruptible. Most of the motion in our own work arrives bundled with the component libraries we already use.

GSAP is the mature alternative and still the better pick for complex timelines and scroll choreography, particularly outside React. React Spring is the closer comparison inside React if you want a physics-first API. Lottie is right when a designer authors the animation and a developer only plays it back. Plain CSS transitions and the Web Animations API handle a surprising amount with no dependency — for hovers, fades and simple state changes, that is the correct call. Reach for Motion when the interaction is genuinely stateful and interruptible. Do not add a library for a fade.
