Kaggle
World's largest data science community platform offering datasets, competitions, and machine learning models. Access millions of public datasets and participate in ML competitions with real-world problems.
About Kaggle
Kaggle is a large public data science platform: datasets, competitions and shared machine learning models, with a community attached to all three. The datasets are the durable part — a very large collection of publicly contributed data — and the competitions, built on real-world problems, give a lot of that data an audience and a track record.
We track it; it is not wired into anything we run. We list it as the place to look when we want a public dataset other people have already worked with. Data that has been examined, argued about and corrected in public is worth more than data nobody has touched, and that is the specific advantage here.
Hugging Face is the better pick when the next step is training and you want datasets a model pipeline can consume directly. Google Dataset Search casts a wider net across the whole web. OpenML is stronger for reproducible benchmarking with standardised evaluation. The UCI Machine Learning Repository still holds the small classic benchmark sets. Official statistical portals are right when you need authoritative source data. Kaggle is the wrong call when provenance and commercial licensing matter — uploads are user-contributed and terms vary dataset by dataset, so read the licence on each before it goes near a product.
