Accio
Alibaba's Accio, now an agentic business platform — an AI team that executes business tasks with built-in skills and connectors, on top of its AI sourcing engine for finding products and suppliers.
About Accio
Accio is Alibaba's agentic business platform. It started in late 2024 as an AI sourcing engine — describe a product and get matched suppliers and products drawn from Alibaba's B2B network — and has since widened into Accio Work, an "AI business team" that executes tasks rather than answering questions: research, sourcing, marketing and operations run through built-in skills and connectors to the tools a business already uses.
We track it rather than run it. It is on the list because it is the clearest example so far of a marketplace turning its own data into an agent. The question we are watching is whether an agent that can source, quote and follow up replaces the procurement workflow around it, or only the search box.
For plain product sourcing, Alibaba.com itself and Global Sources remain the direct alternatives, with Faire and Ankorstore on the wholesale side. For the "AI team" promise, the comparison is the general agent products — ChatGPT's agent mode, Manus — and workflow tools such as Lindy and Relay that connect to your apps. Accio is the wrong call if you are not sourcing physical goods or don't sit near Alibaba's supplier base. It earns a look when supplier discovery is the bottleneck and you want the agent to do the first pass.
