Open-source product analytics platform — event tracking, session replay, feature flags, experiments, error tracking, and a data warehouse with 120+ integrations.

About PostHog

PostHog is a product analytics platform that bundles the things teams usually buy separately: event analytics, session replay, feature flags, A/B testing, surveys, and error tracking. It's open source and can be self-hosted, which matters when your event data can't leave your infrastructure.

We use it because the bundling is the point. Analytics telling you a funnel drops and session replay showing you why are far more useful in one tool than in two, and feature flags in the same place means you can ship behind a flag and read the result without wiring an integration.

Mixpanel and Amplitude are the specialists — deeper analysis and better-built cohorts if product analytics is a discipline someone owns full time. Google Analytics answers a different question, being built for marketing attribution rather than product behaviour, and most teams need both kinds of answer. Plausible and Fathom are the picks if you want privacy-first web analytics and nothing more. PostHog's advantage is breadth at a small-team price; its cost is that each individual piece is less deep than the tool built only for that job.
