Productivity & Launcher

Modern, intelligent terminal and agentic development environment for faster coding with AI agents, built-in collaboration, and enhanced productivity.

About Warp

Warp is a terminal rebuilt as an application rather than a scrolling text stream. Commands and their output are structured units you can navigate, select and share, and editing behaves more like a text editor than a shell line. It is also an agentic development environment: AI agents that read terminal context and carry out work, plus collaboration for handing a session to someone else.

We track it rather than run it. We list it as the option for teams who want the coding agent and the shell in one window, instead of switching between an editor with an agent in it and a plain terminal. Check the account and data-handling model first — a terminal sees everything you type.

iTerm2 is the incumbent on Mac and still the safe default: mature, local, no account attached. Ghostty, WezTerm and Alacritty are the fast native alternatives when startup speed and plain-text configuration matter most. tmux covers the session management Warp builds in. On the agent side the honest comparison is not a terminal at all — Claude Code, Cursor and other CLI agents do that part and leave your terminal alone. Warp is right if you want one surface and accept a terminal with an account behind it. It is wrong for restricted environments, and unnecessary if you already have an agent you like.
